In the early twenty-first century, Earth is visited by an androgynous-looking alien race, the Taelons. Soon, with the Taelons' help, famine, disease and pollution have been eliminated. Although the Taelons profess to have no malice on Earth, a small group of resistance fighters assemble and discover the aliens dark intentions for human experimentation and hybrid warriors in order to save their own species.
