This biography examines the forces that shaped the life of Eberhard Arnold and the people he associated with. The author recreates an era where thousands of young men and women in Weimar Germany rejected conventional mores and struck out on a different path. Arnold, a leader of this so-called Youth Movement, played a highly visible role at the outset but later dropped out to live the controversial answers he has found.
